Associate Scientist, Cell Banking

Our Translational Immunology & Immunopharmacology Group is seeking a hands-on Associate Scientist at our Cambridge, MA site.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Isolation and cryopreservation of various human immune cell types from blood samples
  • Perform QC for each lot of prepared cells, documenting viability, purity and functionality
  • Execute differentiation & activation protocols as required to support downstream assays
  • Propagation and banking of engineered cell lines
  • Maintain a database of all banked samples
  • Cure cancer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be highly proficient with human PBMC preparation by Ficoll gradient centrifugation
  • Must be skilled with magnetic bead isolation of specific immune cell subsets (T cells, NK cells, monocytes)
  • Excellent tissue culture skills and experience culturing human primary immune cells
  • Prior experience working in a cell banking environment is highly preferred
  • Experience utilizing LIMS software for data entry and sample tracking
  • Skill with flow cytometry and cytokine measurement is a major plus
  • Proficiency with protocols for differentiation and/or activation of human primary immune cells is highly desired (e.g., T cell activation by CD3/CD28 or PMA ionomycin, monocyte differentiation into macrophages by M-CSF, NK cell activation by IL-2 or IL-15)
  • Must be highly organized with excellent attention to detail

  • B.S. + 1-3y experience
